About Us
Who We Are
In May 1989 after Gerald got clean and sober, he wanted to share what had happened to him and use his experience to help others and using his real-estate experience created an organization called “Building On Sobriety” BOS. he leased his first 4-bedroom house and BOS became a sober Living Housing organization and became a non-profit 501 c3 in 1992.
By 1999 as BOS board was changing their focus, over 3,000 clients had received housing and supportive services from this effort.
With the overwhelming number of homelessness increasing every year especially women and children and Foster Youth either aging out or emancipating while the gang members took advantage of them being homeless and made it easy for them to join the gang as family.
Gerald’s focus on this crisis was because he was born in Los Angeles and participated in gangs as a teen brought the BOS board together along with his wife Linda and introduced them to the idea to dissolving BOS and creating a new entity.
January 2000 “Pathways To Your Future” a non-profit organization was created and became official in May 2004.

BRINGING THE “NEIGHBOR” BACK TO THE “NEIGHBORHOODS”©
Recovering Our Communities “One Neighborhood at A Time”
Introduction:
A little over 40 years ago, our communities were called “Neighborhoods”. There was a sense of community and a fostering of well-being among the residents. It was the men who would stand up and fight to protect their family and neighborhood from outside violence. It was the men who confronted any and all negative forces that could bring harm to his neighborhood but without our women, the struggle would have failed. The women, the very soul of the neighborhood would make sure the children were educated and involved with the community and church. The neighborhoods were diverse before “diverse” meant anything: consisting of families of all races, creeds, and colors. In the neighborhood, there were traditional households consisting of a father, mother, children, and often there was an extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins under one roof. There was an instinctual relationship amongst the parents and children in the neighborhood, born from the concept and culture; “It Takes A Village to Raise A Family” and “Together We Stand Divided We Fall”.
